Human Behavior: Baseball And How Relates To Everyday Life
One of the most important ways to be successful in life is to be consistent. The San Francisco Giants Baseball team shows us year after year what consistency is all about. A season extending 6 months played daily requires the utmost patience and consistency. If you are unprepared for any aspect of a baseball season, you will not be successful. As in our daily lives as fans of baseball we must be consistent in all things required so we can flourish, survive and most of all feel lucky to go to a GIANTS game.
The preparation involved in a baseball player’s life is endless. They must learn repetition in all things related to baseball for the team to be successful. It all starts with a simple toss of the ball from one to another.
The most simple things in life are often over looked by their outwardly inferiority to its meaning. For example, playing catch may look and be the most mundane part of a baseball players “job” yet it is the most beautiful part for it is the beginning of all things that come after that. A father playing catch with his child for the first time is a moment that stops time. The beauty of life is drawn out and simplified into an experience that has exponential opportunity. If we were to relate the simplicity of playing catch, the simple focused activity needed to toss the ball back and forth to all things in life, we as people could conquer any goals we have. Baseball allows us to see the simplicity of all things when one has applied focus and consistency to the equation.
When you sit down to watch a game like anything it is a new beginning. As is each day when we get up to conquer our goals at hand the game provides new opportunity. The teams set out with the goals and with each pitch, and each moment is vital in achieving another win. Like anything, we as people know how the players make it look easy, but they do so because they have been consistent in their training, repetitive in their method of training, and patient with the time it takes to allow them to reach their goals of being a better player and doing their best in each game. They are required to swing the bat in practice 100’s if not 1000’s of times a day. They are required to field 1000’s of ground balls and fly balls. They run, stretch and they prepare.
Life can seem like baseball: very slow, very mundane, and even at times can make you feel irrelevant.
Like baseball players, you must also create goals. Baseball Players have one true goal when they play and that is to be World Series champions. To get there they must be focused. To get there they must be reliable and consistent on a daily and even hourly basis. To get there they must be patient for the season is long and has many ups and downs. But most of all to get there they must remember to simplify it all by having fun. Never forget the child and the memories of their fathers, Uncles, and Grandfathers playing catch and embedded the memories in time for their own sons and daughters throughout time. Simply in one word: FUN. Simplify your life by remembering that each moment truly can be as simple as a father and child playing catch.
